Software for architecture and engineering practices
The drawing went out. Then it went out again, with a cloud on it and a new letter, and that had to be written onto the issue sheet, the transmittal and the register. Somebody asks which revision the contractor is building from. The honest answer is that you would have to check three places. Meanwhile the Stage 3 fee is spent and the drawings still say Stage 3.
Where it usually goes wrong
The revision gets retyped into each register that holds it
The rev letter goes onto the sheet in Revit, then the issue sheet, then the register, then whatever sends the transmittal, Newforma or Asite or an email with the PDFs attached. Four goes at the same fact. When one gets missed, site finds out before the office does.
The federated model is fresh for one team
Revit links, shared coordinates, and a model that is fresh for one team and stale for the rest. The clash list looks real, until somebody spots that the MEP file came before the grid move. Then the review is spent sorting the live clashes from the dead ones.
The stage fee ends before the stage does
Deltek shows the Stage 3 fee drawn down. The drawings say otherwise, because the client changed the brief and nobody re-cut the fee. Timesheets carry on booking to the old stage code, so the job costing tells you where the money went after it has gone.
