What actually slows dental practices
The website hands the patient back to reception
A patient has chosen a treatment and is ready to act, but the page ends with a phone number or a generic form. Reception then has to recover the context, find the right appointment and call at a time the patient can answer.
The recall list only works when somebody works it
A list can be accurate and still go quiet. If reminders, replies and rebooking depend on a member of staff moving each patient along by hand, the process slows down whenever the desk gets busy.
Treatment pages drift away from the practice
Prices change, clinicians join, finance terms move and new treatments are added. When every edit needs an agency ticket, the live site becomes a record of what the practice used to offer.
The same patient appears differently in every report
The website, diary, payment provider and reporting sheet each hold part of the story. Staff reconcile them by hand, and a simple question about where an enquiry came from turns into a manual trawl through exports.

- A customer is one thing everywhere in the system. Most of the pain in software that has grown by accident comes from three parts of it disagreeing about what a customer is.
- Keys, servers and docs in your accounts
- The deployment, the domain and the environment variables move to you at the end. You can hand the whole thing to another engineer and they will be able to pick it up.

I got my hands on a computer at 6 and never really stopped.
Now it is decentralised finance, tokenising real-world assets and topological deep learning, then building whatever those turn into. Continuum came out of that. So did Delta Xi (δξ, an infinitesimal change in a random variable).
Bossa nova and MPB were always on at home, so I sang before I played anything. Guitar and piano came later, then jazz.
