Software for insurance brokers
The file has to show what was advised, and why. Before that, the risk was keyed into Acturis and keyed again into the insurer portal, which wanted the same answers in a new order. A mid-term adjustment came in by email and the same figures got typed twice. The renewal list still runs off a spreadsheet somebody built years ago. Nobody quite trusts it.
Where it usually goes wrong
One risk, keyed into every system that asks
The client details go into Acturis or Open GI first, because that is the system of record. Then the same risk is keyed into each insurer portal that will not e-trade it. Every retype is one more chance for the sums insured to disagree.
The renewal list that lives outside the system
Acturis and Applied Epic both hold the renewal dates. Somebody still keeps a spreadsheet next to them, because the spreadsheet has the columns that matter, like who is chasing and what the insurer said last time. Two lists, and one of them is out of date.
The demands and needs note is written up afterwards
The advice happens on the phone, in a quick call about adding a van or raising a limit. The note goes into Open GI or SSP later, typed up from memory. If a complaint comes in, that note carries a lot of the defence.
