Software for private clinics
The twenty minutes between patients, almost none of it clinical, gets eaten by the phone, the diary, the letter that still has to be typed, and the third system that does not talk to the other two. Nobody planned it that way. It accumulated.
Where it usually goes wrong
The front desk is a single point of failure
Bookings, reminders, triage and payment all route through one person and one phone line. When they are on holiday the practice runs at half speed, and every enquiry that rings out is a patient who called someone else.
The same information, typed three times
Once by the patient on a form, once by reception into the diary, once into the notes. Every retype is a chance to get a date of birth wrong, and none of it is work anyone trained for.
Patient data narrows what you can use
Health data is special category data under UK GDPR, which rules out most of the cheap automation tools before you have started. It is a real constraint, not a reason to do nothing, and it is the part that gets waved away by people who have not read the regulation.
The website was built by somebody who has gone
Whoever made it has moved on, the login is in an email nobody can find, and changing an opening time now costs a phone call and a week. So it does not get changed.
