The microchip number is the test. It gets typed on the website, read out of a shared inbox, then typed again into the practice system. Same for the policy number. Register a new pet, ask for a repeat, and what looks like a conversion is really a retyping job. Build the form to write into the practice system where it opens up enough to allow it, and to land structured and ready where it does not.

What actually slows veterinary practices
The dispensary count and the system count disagree
Stock moves as tablets and as part-used bottles, then gets billed as one line on the invoice. ezyVet or RxWorks holds one number, the shelf holds another, and the controlled drugs register is often still a paper book that talks to neither. Somebody counts it by hand.
Insurance claims wait on a clinical history nobody has assembled
A direct claim needs the clinical history behind it, so the form sits. Somebody has to pull the notes out of Provet Cloud, check what the insurer has already asked for, and get a vet to sign. The money is owed the whole time. Chasing it is its own job.
Nights run on paper, mornings on retyping
The hospital sheet by the kennel carries the meds, the fluids and the notes for the night. In the morning it goes into VetIT by hand, along with whatever the out-of-hours provider emailed back. Discharge notes then get built again, part typed, part pasted from Vetstream.
websites that convert
Server rendered, fast on a phone when the signal is poor, and built so the people who know what needs changing can change it without raising a ticket. Search, payments, booking and a CMS come built in, not bolted on eighteen months later by somebody else.

- Load time is checked on a throttled connection. A laptop plugged into fibre tells you nothing about the customer on a train. What slows a site down is almost always the scripts that have to finish before anything is allowed to appear.

- The person who knows the price has gone up changes the price. No ticket, no agency, no waiting until next week to correct a typo on the page that sells for you.

- Booking, enquiry or checkout happens where the reader already is. A phone number at the bottom of a brochure asks them to start again somewhere else, which is where most of them stop.

I got my hands on a computer at 6 and never really stopped.
Now it is decentralised finance, tokenising real-world assets and topological deep learning, then building whatever those turn into. Continuum came out of that. So did Delta Xi (δξ, an infinitesimal change in a random variable).
Bossa nova and MPB were always on at home, so I sang before I played anything. Guitar and piano came later, then jazz.
